The Monolith Mountain Suites

This project showcases the radical transformation and adaptive reuse of an aging two-story residence into a premium alpine hospitality complex. The intervention tackles the steep topography by introducing a layered material hierarchy that breaks down the building's original volume. A monolithic stone-clad base anchors the structure to the hillside, while the upper floors are wrapped in a modern timber skin that reflects the verticality of the surrounding forest. The newly integrated, deep-set balconies break the monolithic facade, acting as private viewing platforms for guests and establishing a seamless dialogue between the contemporary interiors and the raw natural landscape.
